Inspirational Women Award
Northamptonshire Community Foundation have partnered with AVON to present a special inspirational woman’s award at the NCF 2024 Annual Awards evening.
In Northamptonshire we are surrounded by inspirational woman, I myself am inspired every day by the dedication of people like Lesley Johnson who takes such care and time to ensure any musicbugs sessions we run cater to each child’s needs or Heather Saint who is able to to allow the children and young people in her Karma Kids sessions to find ways to express themselves in a safe environment. I have been lucky enough to be nominated for this award and am truly grateful. As other mum’s who have children with additional needs will understand, I strive to make the world a better place for my child and others like her, and ensure that she never has to feel as though she doesn’t belong. She is my driving force and I thank everyone around me for helping me to achieve those goals through charitable work. I thank Maddee Blair for helping us set up inclusive tennis sessions and Lisa Ward for agreeing to be trained in the STA Autism swim qualification. Without these women we would not be able to do all of the wonderful things we have done. I am especially grateful to Lucy Somers who helped guide me and help me navigate a new view on the world when my daughter was born. She and I started Peak Empower together and have seen it grow and now blossom into a partnership with Born to Perform under the new name Born to Shine, working alongside Kimberley Carey and Charlotte Ashby who again inspire me daily with their passion for empowering young people to express themselves, build their confidence, and unlock their true potential.
All of these women inspire me to do more, be better and continue to be the woman I want my daughter to be proud of.
